Have you ever felt stupid about asking a consultant for a cosmetic procedure certain questions? If this is the case then help is finally at hand. We have devised a list of the questions that are likely to pop into your head when it comes to planning your Fraxel laser treatment.
One of the usual questions that come hand in hand with any kind of cosmetic procedure is how much it will really hurt. Most people will say that these procedures are “uncomfortable” or “mildly painful” when what they really mean is excruciatingly painful! The best way to describe Fraxel laser treatment is to say that it is a prickling sensation. Usually some kind of anesthetic cream will be added to reduce the pain factor which gives you some idea of how much it might hurt if you didn’t have this option but generally most people report that the after effects are very similar to that of sunburn but usually only last for up to three hours.
Another question that is fairly popular with things such as laser treatment and especially Fraxel laser treatment because it is relatively new is what you should be expecting after the procedure itself. This is not really meant by how great your face will look but rather how bad your face will look if it is this region that you have had the procedure on.
As already mentioned, the sunburn sensation usually subsides after around three hours or so but for the first twenty four hours after the procedure, it is massively advised not to use cosmetics such as makeup or perfumed skin lotions. As with sunburn, the face will appear red but ice packs can help with this and again, as with sunburn you will generally find that your face will appear slightly more bronzed than the rest of your body but of course this will fade once your course of treatment is complete. You will need to remember to use a good quality moisturizer as, like we have already mentioned, the sunburn type after effects will leave your face peeling and let’s face it, this is not a good look!
The last question that we are going to look at is what should be expected in the weeks and months after the course of treatment. It is easy to prepare for the couple of days afterwards but with Fraxel laser treatment, it is highly advised that you avoid any contact with the sun and also tanning beds for around three months. This means if you have planned a summer sun vacation, don’t get Fraxel laser treatment beforehand. Apart from that and wearing a high SPF factor when you are out and about regardless of the sun’s strength, there are usually no other after effects that you should prepare yourself for.
