Should Men Get Pedicures?

If you're like me you've probably heard about pedicures for years and have always thought that it was just something for those high maintenance types. Something that is truly just an extravagance and a waste of money for those trying to feel better about themselves! I will tell you that I have been enlightened! Foot care is often taken for granted and/or ignored. That is of course until you have a foot problem. All of a sudden you have this epiphany and realize that your feet are perhaps one of your most important body parts. Anyone with a foot problem will tell you this and more.
Proper care of your feet should be an ongoing ritual. Trust me; you don't want to wait until it's too late! Foot care should include, as a minimum, regular pedicures, good shoes, and regular massages to stimulate the blood flow. You may want to even visit a podiatrist to get fitted for orthotic shoes or orthopedic shoes or shoe inserts. You won't believe the difference it makes in your energy and quality of life. Just a simple thing like correct fitting shoes is sometimes all it takes. You might be able to eliminate some of that back pain, hip pain, or other joint pain you've been experiencing for years.
Perhaps the most overlooked foot care regime is the pedicure. Especially in men! The word is finally getting out and men are starting to become a primary customer of pedicures practitioners. When deciding to get a pedicure there are couple of things you need to know. Some states require licensing so make sure that if that's the case where you live that you only visit a licensed pedicure technician. The reason for this is that proper sterilization techniques need to be used on the pedicure equipment. If not, there is a chance of infection and that can be disastrous. Then you'll really understand about proper foot care!
You really have to commit to having regular pedicures. You don't just want to go once a year and call it good. They are not miracle workers and can only do so much. Most people are unable or unwilling to go monthly, but that is optimum and preferable. Annually or even semi-annually is not enough. You and your pedicurist will not be able to accomplish adequate foot maintenance on that sort of schedule. If you want healthy feet then you need to commit to it! If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. And doing it right requires getting regular pedicures.
